Busy Busy

Hi loyal readers! It's been a busy last three days, and I've just...not wanted to blog. I'm moving on to the "find a job, you bum" stage of post-graduation bliss, so that's kept me busy. But now it's 12 and I don't have anything huge to do tomorrow, so I'm going to live it up and stay up til I'm done with this blog! Crazy!

Anyway, the prompts areeee (get out your lottery tickets)
Day 31: Whatever tickles your fancy (Jan 18th)
Day 32: A photo you took (Jan 19th)
Day 33: What you’re craving right now (Jan 20th)

So, day 31 was going to be a post about fashion and things that I like, but I'm too lazy to do that now. Perhaps the next time my fancy is tickled. So instead I'm going to share something with you, that not many people know. It's not a secret because it's not that embarrassing. I love Dr. Seuss stories. Tonight I told my sisters that, if ever in a place to do so, I would have an entire sleeve tattoo of Dr. Seuss characters. There's just something so beautiful about the whimsical fuckery going on in those books that I love. The Lorax, for instance, is a tale about conservation and preservation. But as a kid you're just like "OMG THAT ONCELER GUY SUCKS BECAUSE THE TREES ARE GONE" and you don't understand what you're actually upset about is that industry destroyed the forest. I'm all about being green when it's convenient. I want to help save the environment but I'm not going to get all militant about it because I'm a lazy person (i'm all about the honesty today, apparently). I also love the Grinch. He's mean and snarky and grumpy, but then he goes and loses all his cool points when he saves christmas. But that's okay, because I probably wouldn't want a tattoo of the Grinch. Thidwick the Big-Hearted Moose is someone i would have a tattoo of, because I like to think I'm like Thidwick. For those of you who don't know that story, Thidwick's this kick ass moose who's just chillin in the forest and then some bird is like 'um, can i live in your antlers?" and he's too nice to say no, and before you know it he's got a whole lot of critters living on him and he's too nice to tell them to fuck off. Anyway, eventually everyone realizes they're being jerks and do something nice for Thidwick by leaving and taking care of their own selves, but Thidwick now has all these nice new friends. The story itself is much better than the way I've made it sound, less about exploitation and loneliness, more about being a nice person and being rewarded for that. Those are the two stories that are my favorites, but I also really like Are You My Mother, because I used to have a video of the story being narrated with pictures from the book sort of animated as the story was read. it was a cool video and I really liked how he finally gets to his mom and how happy he is and all the yay and love that goes on there. It's heartwarming, okay!

Anyway, I'm going to spam you with photos now.

So this is Thidwick with all his friends. he looks miserable, but he's actually super cute when he's doing that whole smiling thing that moosen do so often.

Of course, this is the Lorax asking the Onceler to stop his shit right now and not waste the Truffula stuff on stupid unitard things with arms that connect to the legs because that doesn't make sense anatomically. (obviously the onceler is a jerk because he ignored the Lorax. How could you ignore someone with a sweet stache like that?)

How adorable is that little baby bird? VERY ADORABLE. That's how much.

Moving along, although I know everyone wants to stay in Dr. Seuss land forever...
I have to share a picture that I've taken.

This is midnight, my sister Amanda and brother-in-law Michael's dog. She is half black lab and half german shepard and allll adorableness. For all the bark she's got, she's the sweetest big dog I've ever met. She's one of my favorite subjects because she does the cutest things and sometimes she smiles :3

The next prompt is to talk about something I crave right now. If I'd written this this morning, that would be Chicken Tikka Masala. But I had that for dinner (finally) and now don't crave anything, except pickles because I love pickles and will always want one. Pickles and tuna fish. Mixed together or separate. Mmmmm tuna. Anyway, that's what I'm craving: Pickles, Tuna fish, and Chicken Tikka Masala (because really, I want it all the time too).

Til Tomorrow!

Awkward Zone avoided, mostly.

Hi there loverly readers! Today I'll be writing a letter to the friendliest person you knew for only one day. I'm not sure if that means I've only known them for a day and might meet them again, or someone I will never see again. I'm going to go with the former, since I haven't been in any situations that would involve me meeting someone and then never seeing them again. I did have jury duty once but I brought homework and was dismissed after 2 hours of waiting around...so yeah, moving on.

Dear Jared,
You are by far one of the nicest and sweetest children that I have ever met. I came over to visit with Bonnie, Sam and their bunny Ted. When you got off the bus and came into the house you were so excited to see Sam, and in that moment I wished I had a cute little brother too. But then you were introduced to me and I expected an awkward wave but you're a hugger like me and gave me a hug before asking if I like the Red Sox. I'm sorry I disappointed you, since I definitely don't follow baseball. You sat next to me while we waited for Ted to come out from the sofa and you told me all about the show that was on TV, although I don't remember what it was or why it was a children's show because it kind of scared me. Eventually you decided you wanted to show everyone how to play baseball, so you popped in MLB for Xbox360. Besides the fact that you made the opposite team bunt every time, you were a master of MLB, something I can never claim to be. But none of this has to do with why you are the most friendly person I've ever known for a day. I mean, it sort of does, but at the same time it doesn't capture just how nice and friendly and cute you were. You sat next to me comfortably, something most 10 year old boys wouldn't do, most likely because they would probably be fidgeting. You gave me hugs! More than one! I thought that was super nice, since you hugged everyone else and I think you thought I might feel left out. Anyway, you wanted to share what you liked with me, even though that show was terrifying and I don't like baseball. It was a valiant effort and the only reason I enjoyed it was because you were so earnest and nice about including me. So yeah, thanks for being an awesome kid :)

I have a lot of favorites.

So today it's going to be a beautiful colorful exciting day! Day 29's prompt is to provide the HEX code of my favorite color. The prompt provides a link to a color wheel thing, but I'm going to use Colourlovers (i made that a link if you wanna check it out) to share with you. Most likely I'll also use fotoshoop and make a nice little presentation of my favorites :3

Favorite color number one: #A6E3BB also known on colourlovers as "watery green" this is almost the exact color of the walls of my room. This is a kind of very light teal that is more green than blue. I quite love it :3

Second favorite: #1A8922 also known as "Agreenable" I'm a big fan of rich green.

Third favorite: #DBD1CC also known as "Tawny Birch" which is a very lovely grayish brown color.

Fourth favorite: #303030 also known as "Not Quite Black" which is a very dark gray :3

Fifth favorite: #A12C0F known as "Ganesha Stuti" but I think of it as "dark burnt orange" is...a dark burnt orange color. I have a tapestry in which Ganesha is this color, and it's a beautiful color. So there.

Sixth and final favorite: #5F0E35 also known as "Wine" which is...wine colored. Delicious.

So here's what I made in photoshop so you can see the colors!

Okay, so apparently photoshop's "best quality" setting for saving as a jpeg is total shit quality. That, and i can't actually have the image any bigger without it being cut off. But you can still see the colors :)

Whoops

So much for sticking to a post a day! These last three days have been busy ones which have left me with little time to blog. But today I get to share three very interesting things with you! So that should make up for my three days of fun (and little to no internet).
SO, the prompts are....
Day 26: Favorite books (January 13th)
Day 27: A talent of yours (January 14th)
Day 28: Favorite Places to shop(January 15th)

Most of the people who read this can probably guess most of my favorite books. I'll give you a second to think of some.

Ready to compare notes?
Favorite Book number one is a series, as you can all guess. Some people would probably say that I should grow up and have favorite books that I didn't read when I was 11. But those people can shove it. The Harry Potter series was something I grew up with and love and wish was real every time I read it. *sigh* If I was stuck on a desert island and only had one series to bring with me I'd probably choose something that would guarantee my survival, because I could probably just replay all the harry potter books in my head :3 (surprised you with that, didn't i? If you can't tell I'm trying to be funny).

Anyway, another favorite book is The Magicians by Lev Grossman. If you haven't read it, you need to. It's like grown up Harry Potter. Apparently there's going to be more books, but at the moment it's just the one. The main character's name is Quentin, and he is good at math, magic tricks and pining after a girl his friend is dating. He also loves a children's book series about a land called Fillory. Then one day he and the girl he liked get taken to sit for a test, Quentin is admitted to Brakebills Academy where he is taught magic. One day in a lecture hall he decides to play a joke on his professor and change the spell the professor is doing, and ends up pausing time and summoning a monster, a man in a grey suit with an oak leaf covering his face who ends up eating one of Quentin's fellow students. Quentin makes friends with a few of his fellow students who hang out in a dilapidated clubhouse, drinking and smoking and playing pool instead of giving a shit about school. This all sounds boring, but eventually Quentin finds out Fillory is real and the story of the children in those books is also real, and he decides to find Martin, the character who went missing. Okay, I'm not doing this book justice. If you like Harry Potter or Narnia (or both) then you will really like this. Quentin is me, because he wants to be part of the Fillory series like I want to be part of the Harry Potter series. But he actually gets to go there. He learns, though, that the books he loved weren't all happy and perfect. I don't think I could take the disappointment if the characters I loved weren't....themselves. SO, yes, you should read this. It's about 400ish pages of awesomeness. There's this whole coming of age tale involved in this story as well, as Quentin traverses the murky waters of being in love and such. Seriously, just read it.

My third favorite book is The Giver. No matter how many times I've read it, it always touches me. The way I imagine things in my head is probably partly why I love this book so much, because the reader is given so much material to work with for imagining this world. Plus the story of escape and discovery is beautiful~ Most of you have probably read it. If not, read it. I won't spoil it for you :)

Those are my top three, but I also really like the Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire Series (as you know) and everything I've read by Jane Austen, and Lamb, and the Time Travelers Wife, and he Vampire Chronicles, and the Color Purple. Not the most admirable or scholastic reading list, but all the books I've mentioned were enjoyable and well written, so at least there's that. I won't bother ranting about twilight again. I'll save that for a later date.

Moving on to the next prompt in which I am supposed to tell you about a talent that I have...
I can't think of anything. I'm good at ranting in capslock in my head about twilight. I'm also good at using "SO" as a transition. I'm an olympic athlete in the sleeping division. I guess if showering quickly was a talent then I'd be talented at that. Alright, time to google "talent"...

1. natural ability: an unusual natural ability to do something well, especially in artistic areas that can be developed by training

2. somebody with exceptional ability: a person or people with an exceptional ability

That's what google gives me. I'm not sure I have an unusual natural ability to do something well. I don't pick things up any faster than most people (although my family would say that I'm especially gifted with computers, but they don't know my actually computer savvy friends). I think my talent is in being average and able to admit that :) (this is me trying to make myself feel better about not being particularly good at something)

Oh, I can read at a good pace and maintain interest in a book long enough to finish it in a short period of time. I guess that's a talent, since some people don't like to read because they can't keep themselves interested in it. yep.

So the last post is supposed to be about favorite places to shop. I do most of my shopping online ._. so this will be a mix of links to stores online and a few actual stores I like going to.

1) ULTA. I only recently got into makeup (like a year ago) and this site is one of the reasons I can't fit anything in my bathroom shelf anymore. The beauty here is they offer a wide range of products in all different price ranges so that for people who want to try gel eyeliner can get a cheap pot to try out before committing to the pricey (and obviously nicer quality) brands. With the exception of one item, everything I've gotten from ULTA has been awesome. Dina got me a 73 piece train case for christmas and it's ULTA brand makeup items, which you would be weary of. but the eyeshadows last a really long time, the pigment is wonderful and the eyeliner goes on super smooth. Aaanyway, this site is awesome.

2) Etsy. I'm sure most of the people who read this have heard of etsy. It's a great site for selling handmade everything (although there are some people who just sell stuff they've bought and try and pass it off as handmade...) I've gotten some cool jewelry for myself, and a lot of cool christmas/birthday presents from etsy. If you search for something, it's likely you'll find it :)

Okay, so I really don't shop too often anymore, but these two places are the ones I frequent most often. ._. and goodwill, because that place is the shit.

There you have it, 3 prompts, one long and kind of sad post. Maybe at the end of this I'll analyze everything and come to a conclusion about myself. Wouldn't that be fun?
Til Tomorrow <3

Judgment, I has it.

Dear person I judged when I saw you.
The prompt for today isn't too helpful, since it asks me to write a letter to someone I judged based on a first impression. I judge everyone I see... most of the time it's not in a bad way, but in a "is that person nice?" "are they cute?" "oh i like his shoes" kinda way. God knows I shouldn't be judging too harshly, seeing as how I hardly conform to what is "normal" most days. I think I'm a happy medium between odd and socially acceptable. Anyway, this letter is not about me, it's about you.

When I first saw you I knew you were bad news. Seriously, who wears a skull ring to a job? No one, unless they work at Hot Topic. You also looked like you hadn't showered in...a few days...and your shirt both obviously dirty and you had the sleeves rolled up. A white button up shirt that you wear to your job should not have the sleeves rolled up. Unless you're catering. Which you weren't. I didn't sit next to you (thank god) but I could still smell you. You smelled bad. I knew deep in my bones that you sir, were not going to last at this job. That, and that you were nothing but trouble and I should stay as far away from you as possible. I can't remember now what your face looked like, but I'm sure you had some serious stubble going on. Anyway, you creeped me out. You also creeped out the other two girls at the training table. Really, there were three nice young ladies, an older but polite man, and then you. I can't even figure out what age you were supposed to be, but hey, heroin is a hell of a drug. Yeah, you were doing that itchy thing that addicts do when it's time to go shoot up in the bathroom. Anyway, I left the training session before you but found out later you were asked to leave. Guess I wasn't the only one who got the "oh god this guy is bad news bears" heebiejeebies. I'm sure deep deep down you are a nice guy. But next time you go for a job interview/training/whatever you should definitely a) shower b) wear clean clothes/iron them c) not do the itch thing d) the skull ring has got to go. So yeah, I think that this concludes my letter, mostly because I was right about my first impression. Most of the time I'm wrong. Thank goodness I didn't have to interact with you long enough to have my initial impression proved correct.
Hope you aren't in jail/shooting up anymore,
MeggyB

There you have it readers, a letter about my superficiality. I hope that those of you who read this and know me well know that I don't judge you. I did when we first met. Sometimes you might do/say something that I do not agree with, but I still like/love/talk to you. So, really, don't think I'm tearing apart all your outside appearance stuff as well as the personal shit you tell me. I'm not. Judgment (can we take a second to consider that i spelled it Judgement and it was seen as misspelled but I googled it and that was a correct way to spell the word? wtf.) is something i reserve for when I first meet you or when I see anyone ever. Just like everyone else. We are not all speshul snowflakes and no matter how horrible it sounds/is, we all judge each other. It's all about competition/feeling better about ourselves/whatever. Maybe you'll disagree and go "but megan, I DON'T judge" I will say, "bullshit and shenanigans, of course you do".
I'll leave this entry with that. Talk amongst yourselves <3

Face shenanigans

Hi Readers! Today's prompt is to transform my face using this link.

So that's what I did! Here are some results! :) Dear sweet baby jesus they are frightening.

Apparently this is me when i get older. I'm thinking I'll start moisturizing with anti-aging crap around 40...hopefully this won't be so bad!

This one is supposed to be what I would look like if some painter, Mogidiali or something, painted me. I have a humongous chin XD

this is me if I were east-asian. I think I'm pretty cute :3

Uhhh, I guess this is me either when I'm drunk (which is not the case) or how people see me when they are drunk. Which explains why no one ever wants to dance with me.

Apparently this is what I looked like as a baby. Obviously this is full of lies!

This is me if I was a man. Thank God i am not a man.

And of course, me if i was an anime character. I'm pretty sure that no matter what picture you put in the transformer and choose manga style you will look like this.

And with that, I'm going to play more Harvest Moon.
<3 Til Tomorrow!,

Sing-a-long songs

Hi there readers!
Today's prompt is to share a current favorite tune. I currently have several favorites. So I'm sharing them all :)

This is one of my favorite songs by Fever Ray, "when I grow up". I have a hard-on for Karin. Her voice is gorgeous and the music she makes is amazinggggg. *wistful sigh*
(i also apologize now if there are a lot of typos, i can't see too well today since I'm sick and my eyes are puffy and watery)

This is an awesome song that my friend Ray shared with me :) Not my normal type of music, but it's so pretty~ This is Josh Ritter's "The Temptation of Adam".

This isn't one of my favorite songs, but it keeps getting stuck in my head. This is "Kids" by MGMT. The video itself is a fanvideo because VEVO and Youtube seem to hate one another lately. The original video won't load since it's a vevo one. *shrug*

This is "Here's where the story ends" by The Sundays. I recently started listening to The Smiths and in that listening found The Sundays. I love the way it sounds and it's just...nostalgic for me. I used to listen to the Cranberries ALL THE TIME as a kid, so this is like that but better <3

So yeah, that's probably plenty for now. I'm going to go medicate and have a really long nap!
<3 Til Tomorrow,
MeggyB
